Anthony,
Your particular error is an R problem building sources in directory paths with non ascii
characters (in this case the ó). Windows allows unicode paths, but R has trouble with
source builds with non ascii characters.
To change the path, either set the "lib" argument in the install.packages
function to a new path, or to change the default, add a path to the top of the library
location list with the .libPaths() function.
Otherwise, I ran the command you attempted:
install.packages("Zelig", repos = "http://r.iq.harvard.edu/archived/",
type = "source")
successfully on OSX and Windows machines, so it is not a problem with the repository.
Anticipating another problem you may have, note, that there is an issue (see previous
Zelig list posts) with .readRDS() now being defunct in R-2.15.x. (the function has been
unmasked in R Core, so named simply readRDS() now). I found no problem on OSX machines,
but on Windows I found that after installation of the archived Zelig 3.5, attempting the
library("Zelig") command will give an error on R-2.15.2 (and it looks from your
post you are using 2.15.2 on an Win machine), so you would need an older version of R,
say 2.14.x, in order to run this older archived version of the Zelig library.
(Relatedly, if there is any issue in the current Zelig 4 that is not working in your
application, and for which you are turning to version 3.5, let me know (on or off list) if
I can help fix or address this issue more directly in the current Zelig package.)
Best,
James.
