I´m having problems installing EiR in my computer. I´m trying to install it in Windows Vista and in R3.0. When I try to install it using the commmand install.packages("ei", type="source", repos="http://r.iq.harvard.edu"), I get this message:

Hello,
I'm trying to install EI package. I installed all suggested packages but still have a trouble. I am using R 3.0 , and does this cause a problem? FYI, I attach the error message below.
Thank you.

Hello,
and thank yu to Gary King and his team for the implementation of the EI RxC
method.
I would like to know whether there is an easy way of using supplementary
data in an RxC model. Suppose you estimate a model, and then you get new
data, e.g. the true values of one cell of the RxC tables. Can you use this
data to better the estimates of the other cells? is it implemented (or can
easily be) in R?
Thank you very much,
Joel

Hello,
I have used the syntax “ei.hier” and “ei.RxC” in Zelig for several times in the past.
Recently, I started to use this ei package, and I found the results came out from this two packeges (ei and Zelig) are different .
Are there any default setting different between ei and Zelig ?
Best,

Hi everyone,
I am trying to use the ei program to analyze voting data, by ethnicity,
within African countries. The problem I am encountering is very similar to
one discussed in the Feb 2012 archived messages.
No matter how I specify my variables (as counts or proportions), I get an
error message:
> formula2 <- cbind(turnout04, noturnout04) ~ cbind(Akan, Ga, Ewe, Guan,
Gurma, Mole, Grusi, Mande, Others)
> dbuf2<- ei(formula2, total = "pop18", data=STATA)
[1] "Running eiRxC"
Error in BayesMDei(formula, data, total = total, lambda1 = lambda1, lambda2
= lambda2, :
column marginals are neither counts nor proportions - please
respecify data
I have looked over my proportions and counts and cannot find any problem.
One group did make up a sizeable part of the overall ethnic data, so I
replaced it with disaggregated ethnic totals to replace that aggregated
group (my aim is to use these disaggregated ethnic totals in the long run).
The same error message was returned.
I have also successfully run a 2x2 analysis for this data.
Any clues, similar experiences, etc??
Thank you for any and all help!

Hello. I am trying to do a few things with the command "plot(dbuf, "xtfit").
I saved and loaded a data buffer and the graph looks fine. However, I want to change the main title and label the axes. I would also like to add a fit line.
I tried to use "eigraph_loess(databuf)" but the following error popped up: "Error: could not find function 'eigraph_loess.'"
Thanks in advance,
Sara Butler
To whom it may concern,
I am trying to estimate the proportion of evangelicals voting for the
Republican presidential candidate across several elections using county
level data and the RxC EI(R) package. However, I keep getting an error
message, and I haven't been able to resolve the issue. My data includes the
following variables:
1. the total number of voters in each county
2. the proportion voting for the Republican candidate in each county
3. the proportion of evangelicals in each county
4. the proportion of registered voters who turned out to vote in each county
The ei package works fine when I run the 2x2 analysis (i.e., when I exclude
the turnout proportion variable as a covariate). When I try to use the RxC
command, I get the following error message after the "dbuf<-ei()" command
is entered:
[1] "Running eiRxC"
Error in apply(DD[[2]], 1, sum) : dim(X) must have a positive length
Maybe I'm just overlooking something simple, but these are my questions:
What exactly is the error message telling me? And how do I fix the error?
If you need it, I've attached a portion of the data I use for the analysis,
along with my script for running the analysis. You can upload these files
into R and then run the analysis to see exactly what I am seeing. I've also
included the full syntax appearing in my console when I use the RxC
package. This is probably more information than you need, but I want to be
thorough.
Thank you in advance for your assistance. Please feel free to respond to
this e-mail address if you have further questions.
