Dear all,
Upon following the instructions for ReadMe installation on Windows outlined in the "ReadMe: Software for Automated Content Analysis" I still seem to have problems.
I have installed R to C:\Program Files (x86)\R\R-2.10.1
and Python to C:\Program Files (x86)\Python
> install.packages("ReadMe", repos= "http://gking.harvard.edu", type="source")

When I tried to use the R pull-down menu commands for installing the ReadMe package from the ReadMe_0.996.tar file located at C:\Users\Kristian\AppData\Local\Temp\Rtmp90Xqd1\downloaded_packages, I got the following screen:

2: In gzfile(file, "r") :

Any insights would be greatly appreciated,
Sincerely,
Kristian

Hello.
I'm a new user having some trouble installing the ReadMe package on
Windows. After installing Python, I followed the directions in the ReadMe
user manual, but keep getting an error message telling me that the package
is not available:
> install.packages("ReadMe", repos = "http://gking.harvard.edu")
Warning message:
In getDependencies(pkgs, dependencies, available, lib) :
package ‘ReadMe’ is not available
> install.packages("ReadMe")
--- Please select a CRAN mirror for use in this session ---
Warning message:
In getDependencies(pkgs, dependencies, available, lib) :
package ‘ReadMe’ is not available
Any ideas on what might be going wrong here?
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I attempted to install the ReadMe software on my mac, after
successfully installing R.
the command, install.packages("ReadMe",repos="http://gking.harvard.edu")
resulted in a 404 error, the file cannot be found on the server.
and when I tried to install from source, the result was as follows:
> install.packages("ReadMe", repos="http://gking.harvard.edu", type=source)
Error in as.character(x) :
cannot coerce type 'closure' to vector of type 'character'
I noticed some others have had similar dificulties in installing
ReadMe on Mac OS X. I would be grateful if you could help me shed some
light on how to solve the issue.
kind regards,

Hi all,
I'm a newbie both in the ReadMe list and in this software usage. I've
been trying to install ReadMe but I have not been able to do it. I
first followed typing the command I read in the user guide
( install.packages("ReadMe",repos="http://gking.harvard.edu")) but it
didn't work. I then saw a colleague had the very same problem in early
February, he himself offering a solution some days later, which I
tried as well.
> install.packages("ReadMe", repos="http://gking.harvard.edu",
type=source)
Error en as.character(x) :
cannot coerce type 'closure' to vector of type 'character'

Unfortunately, this didn't work either. I've also tried to install the
package through the unix terminal on my mac, but, again,
unsuccessfully. I'd really welcome some help.
Thanks!
